WORKING WITH ME

I am a film director who happens to make photographs. That order matters more than it sounds like it should.
I have a good sense of where a moment is going before it happens, and I'm just as ready to change course if it doesn't. Listed as a director on the official Cannes Film Festival website, published in Glamour, with production credits running from the Arctic to Abu Dhabi. None of that is why you should hire me. It's the instinct that comes from directing before I ever picked up a camera.
I'm originally Hungarian, and so was Robert Capa, who left behind the most repeated line in photography: "If your pictures aren't good enough, you're not close enough." I've built a habit out of taking that literally. Close enough to catch what you're actually feeling, close enough that what's left is just you.
What actually separates the work is smaller than a credit list. It's the questions I ask before we shoot, and remembering what you told me you were nervous about, once we're on set.

PORTRAITS IN THE ACTIC
The location is part of what you are buying.
These are not generic portrait sessions that happen to take place in Norway. They are sessions designed around specific places that look like nowhere else on earth, and the time of year matters as much as the location.
Prestvannet in winter is powdery hues and a quiet that the city does not have. In autumn the birch trees go rusty and the light goes low and warm. In summer, the midnight sun makes everything glow at midnight as if it forgot to stop. The downtown has a different energy entirely, street art, the harbour, the kind of urban Arctic texture you would not find in Bergen or Oslo.
I talk you through every frame. You do not need to know how to pose.

Unless the weather is life-threatening, we go. Rain, wind, cloud, fog that rolls in from nowhere.
These are not problems.
They are the session.
Some of the best portraits I have ever made happened in conditions that looked, on paper, like a disaster.
Dress for where you are. I will handle everything else.
